Family-Based is our most intensive service, and is based on Family Structural Therapy and Family Systems Theory. Services are offered in the home for families with children who have significant behavior problems, have not shown progress from less intensive therapies, have a mental health diagnosis and/or are at risk of out-of-home placement or are returning from an out of home placement. A two-person team comprised of one Masters and one Bachelors level clinician who deliver service an average of twice weekly in-home sessions for 32 weeks of service. Upon intake to the program, service begins within 24 hours of enrollment and includes education and skill building, linkage to resources, crisis intervention and support for basic needs. In order to be eligible for Family-Based Mental Health Services, the primary service recipient must be a child or young adult age 0-21 with a DSM-IV diagnosis given by a psychiatrist, physician or a licensed psychologist, AND who is at risk for hospitalization or out of home placement due to behavior or family situation. Family-Based Mental Health Services are voluntary and requires at least one parent/guardian willing to participate in treatment. The primary goal of the family/parent should be to maintain the child or adolescent at home.
